Edinburgh Synchronised Swimming Club takes part in various competitions at local and national level throughout the year. Coaches will advise swimmers when they will be competing.
The main Scottish competitions are:
Inter District Competition – generally held in March. Swimmers from Edinburgh Synchro can be chosen to represent the East District.
Figure Competition – this is a new competition to the Scottish calendar and will be held in June. Swimmers will compete at age group figures (up to 18) and technical solos and duets (for those aged 15 and above).
Scottish Clubs Championships – generally held in December. Scottish Clubs compete against each other. There are no entry requirements for this competition and we try to include as many swimmers as we can in teams.
Scottish National Age Groups and Open – generally held in October. Swimmers need to have achieved a certain level of skill depending on their age to compete in the Age Group competition. There is also a recreational section for swimmers who have not met that criteria.
Novice Event – generally held in May. For swimmers who have not yet passed a skill level, or who passed skill level 1 in the September assessment day.
There are also English competitions that some teams attend each year.
The club has put together a matrix of the 2018 competitions and eligibility requirements. Please note that there are often changes in the regulations so this may not be 100% accurate.
The club pays entry fees. Swimmers should notify coaches immediately if unable to attend any competitions. If swimmers have been entered for a competition and have to pull out, for whatever reason, they may be charged for entry fee and/or any penalty charge.
All swimmers representing the club at competition must have club kit. Club kit involves a club swimming cap, club costume, club t-shirt or polo shirt, long plain black leggings, plain black costume, plain white swimming cap, nose clip and goggles. Club hooded tops may also be purchased from the club. Caps and nose clips are available from the club most training sessions. The rest of the kit is ordered twice a year but can be ordered in advance on our club kit page.
Information on figures and routines, and how they are marked are on our grades page.
