Jay Delves, a Glasgow-based artist, has been working with Edinburgh Synchro to develop an art installation that brings synchronised swimming onto the land. She worked closely with Sarah, one of our coaches, to understand the aesthetics of synchro movement and the translation of synchro routines onto land as ‘walk throughs’. She used the ‘Inception’ duet as a basis and has worked with, and filmed, the routine’s swimmers, Cale, Cara and Niamh, over the past couple of months.
The work previewed in the CCA in Glasgow on Friday and was well received.
